EMG-driven Muscle Activations Tune Post-Stroke Computed Muscle Control Simulations

چکیده
INTRODUCTION OpenSim is an open-source musculoskeletal modeling program that uses computed muscle control (CMC) to estimate muscle excitation patterns during a particular task [1,2]. CMC determines the excitations by minimizing the weighted sum of muscle forces while reproducing the desired kinematics. With this approach, estimates of muscle excitations in populations with known muscle activation impairment (i.e., stroke) may not be accurate without proper input signals representative of the neural impairment.

Emg-informed Computed Muscle Control for Dynamic Simulations of Movement
INTRODUCTION Computed Muscle Control (CMC) is an efficient method for estimating muscle activations and forces from kinematic and ground reaction force data [1]. However, it can fail to replicate some muscle activation characteristics found in electromographic (EMG) recordings. For instance, muscles often activate in anticipation of events such as heel strike, and these anticiptory responses ar...
متن کاملCoherence between cortical and muscular activities after subcortical stroke.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Functional connection between the motor cortex and muscle can be measured by electroencephalogram-electromyogram (EEG-EMG) coherence. To evaluate the functional connection to muscle between contralateral and ipsilateral motor cortices after pyramidal tract lesions, we investigated 6 patients with chronic subcortical stroke. METHODS High-resolution EEG and EMG of the han...
متن کاملAlterations in Spectral Attributes of Surface Electromyograms after Utilization of a Foot Drop Stimulator during Post-Stroke Gait
BACKGROUND A foot drop stimulator (FDS) is a rehabilitation intervention that stimulates the common peroneal nerve to facilitate ankle dorsiflexion at the appropriate time during post-stroke hemiplegic gait. Time-frequency analysis (TFA) of non-stationary surface electromyograms (EMG) and spectral variables such as instantaneous mean frequency (IMNF) can provide valuable information on the long...
متن کاملTask constraints and minimization of muscle effort result in a small number of muscle synergies during gait
Finding muscle activity generating a given motion is a redundant problem, since there are many more muscles than degrees of freedom. The control strategies determining muscle recruitment from a redundant set are still poorly understood. One theory of motor control suggests that motion is produced through activating a small number of muscle synergies, i.e., muscle groups that are activated in a ...
متن کاملA model based investigation of activation patterns of the tongue muscles for vowel production
Muscle activations in speech production are important for understanding speech control. To overcome the problems of previous methods, we proposed a physiological articulatory model based approach to explore the muscle activations in the production of the five sustained Japanese vowels through an optimization procedure which minimizes the morphological differences between the model simulations a...
